"Creativity is intelligence having fun." Albert Einstein
The Orchard Valley Quilters Guild is having a display at the Rotary Centre for the Arts, 421 Cawston Ave, Kelowna. Called "Beyond Quilting" it will be on display until the beginning of May. Maybe someone could organize a road trip for a group of you?
There are a few new sections on the VSSQ website, Members Only section. There are minutes of executive meetings and a new code of conduct draft.
Show and Tell:
Linda W. is working on a piece using the inset circles we did last season. She also has put her orphan bird from a previous quilt into his own scene.

Elisabeth has made progress on her paperclip beads and brought along her accordion book too.
Linda K. has a lovely cheesecloth tree and couched a heart.
Christine couched some straws onto a pieced background and also brought in a small box she made a few years ago that features cording.
Joan has embroidered on a favourite jean jacket to mend some holes and played with a lace doily she indigo dyed and then added some thread work flowers to.
Brigitte finished up her wool beads.
Ella has been busy with a few different techniques. She pieced some birch trees, made a fun foam leaf, printed with some ferns and used the lemon scorching technique to make some impressive birch trees. Love the nature theme here!
Lena has been taking quilting courses locally and is learning walking foot and free motion quilting. She had a pile of examples of her progress and they look great. I talked her into letting me take a picture of one.
Bev had a few different items to show. She played with tyvek and an iron, made a flower, did some couching and tried her hand with Inktense pencils and water.

Shirley W. showed us some painted fusible for a possible future technique and made a flower using Puffy Foam by Sulky.

Bev showed us how to make a Pillow Bead from a square of fabric by folding and stitching. It is from the Spring 2025 issue of Quilting Arts. If you are not subscribing to the magazine you can get it from the library on the Libby App.
Toolbox Tuesday
After lunch we played with cording. Making twisted cord with a power drill was a favourite one!

We also covered cord with embroidery floss and decorated it with beads.
This one makes a bracelet with doubled cord but could be used just to decorate.
