I was delighted to have my quilt, Stone Sheep, accepted into this show. There are 115 artists from around the world exhibiting here. The variety of styles, techniques and fibres used is amazing.
Here are a small portion of the wonderful things shown. I have mostly focused on 3D pieces as that is what we are exploring this year in QuArtz but a few others found their way in just because.

A sunny but cool day for our meeting. Winter is on the way! It does bring with it lots of inside time to be creative!
We will be doing our usual Pot Luck lunch for the December meeting. There are less dietary restrictions this year. Shellfish is ok. There seems to be a gluten intolerance as well as some difficulty with lactose. But no matter what we always find something for everyone and a good lunch is had by all.
There will be two surprise activities to entertain. A supply list to be sent out later.
Jeanette has challenged us to dust off our tassel techniques and come up with an Angel Tassel to help decorate the table. She brought one in as an example.
The Whispers Challenge pieces were shown at Guild last month and there are pictures on the website. Brigitte is going to look into possibly showing them at the Armstrong Museum and Art Gallery in the new year.
Elisabeth talked about the techniques she used on her Whispers Challenge. She uses a variety of fabrics to help depict the texture found in nature, from nuno felted wool and silk to upholstery fabric, old clothes and shiny sheers. Sometimes the backside of the fabric is just what you were looking for!
Joan also talked about making thread trees for her Challenge. She uses a fabric like water soluble from Solvy to stitch the trees on, then pins it to a styrofoam tray and then washes away the soluble and let dry. This helps keep the shape intact as it dries.
Show and Tell
Elisabeth had three lovely Christmas cards to share with us. She also mentioned the Paint Chip Challenge the main guild is organizing this year. You still have time to join in if you wish.
Cath has gone way down the rabbit hole of Pop Up cards. One actually has a rabbit hole! Then stepped stairs and a bouquet of flowers. Just too much fun!

Cathy brought back some lovely fabric from Greece that she made into a table cloth. She has also make a second hand bracelet into a pretty tassel, just add wings and she will have her angel!
Shirley has been very busy with Marvin's Make it More Modern group and catching up on finishing a lovely houses wall hanging that has been in the works for awhile.
