If it's AUGUST it must be Indigo!

What a fun meeting we had!  Not too hot and lots and lots of indigo leaves to share.

We all got set up and started stripping the leaves off the stems we had cut that morning.

Shirley grew a lot of plants in her garden.  A few volunteers went over to pick them before the meeting.

The supplies were simple.  Leaves, gloves, coarse salt, water and an item to dye.

Next we squished the leaves, some water and salt together until they looked like wilted spinach.

Then added the fabric and continued to squish.......

When the colour seemed rich enough the leaf bits were rubbed off and the fabric laid out in the shade to dry.  Linda says you can take out your shibori stitching when it is dry but wait a week before you rinse it.

Brigitte is taking the remainder of her stems home to try and root them.

Then Linda talked Betty into having the bottom of her lovely long hair indigo dyed!

And the results are amazing!

Day later after swimming in the lake

Thank you so much Betty!
