September in Falkland again

It was another lovely sunny day in Falkland.  The museum hosted us again and let us borrow some wonderful rusty bits for our rust dyeing.

Christine will collect them at the next meeting and return them to the museum.

We had lots of wonderful rusty objects to choose from.

And an iridescent winged supervisor as well.

Everyone got busy with fabric, vinegar and water and rusty objects.

I don't know who used these two beauties but I can hardly wait to see the finished fabric!

After lunch Jeanette updated us on the VSSQ guild and some of the protocols at the church.  Less than half of the current members are thinking of going back this season.  There will be an email coming from the guild to explain it all.

We have not committed to renting the workshop room this year and are taking it more on a month by month basis for our meetings.  There was talk of an outing to Coldstream for the October meeting, weather permitting of course. We are talking about possibly doing some rubbings at the local cemetery.   More information will come later.  We have to enjoy the fall weather while we can.

Christine has a sign up sheet for the membership, email and phone number updates.  She is also looking for people to do a presentation or workshop during the year.  We are focusing on Colour this year, although not in the traditional sense.  Some of her suggestions are:

We had show and tell and time for just chatting. We explored a bit more around the museum grounds and looked for good sized pieces in the gypsum pile.

Cath's pour, she calls her 'Cheap and Cheerful'  She also showed her reverse appliqué on the back of her jean jacket. 

Jeanette has been playing with silk fusion, this is a work in progress.  Love that orange!

Elisabeth has finished her Symmetry and turned it into a large pillow.

She has also been busy with her sun printing from last month.

          

Brigitte is working on hand stitching one of her sun print pieces to form the cover of a journal.  The lovely rosy piece was sun printed and will be the inside of the cover. The pages have been eco printed and some silk tie's use to print as well. 

Gloria was busy hand stitching on her painted piece from last month.  She collected all the little left over bits of paint and splattered it on the cloth.  Now she is covering it with her signature beautiful hand work.

Cathy has reworked her sun print and her pour and then mounted them on small stretcher frames.

Christine has stamped on the background of her 'wretched butterfly' but feels she can pull it all together with the use of some sparkly threads. (I have no doubt it will be wonderful!)
