It was a lovely day for the meeting, sunshine and warmth.
Brigitte will be away next month on a cross Canada trip with a friend. Her sister, Dodie, will open the clubhouse for us and host our meeting. Safe travels, Brigitte. And visit lots of quilt shops!
There is a Textile Talks coming up at the end of the month and they will be talking to 3 3D artists. It is free to watch but you need to sign up for the Zoom presentation.

A reminder that at the June meeting we will be having a talk and presentation by Gerry Marchand.
Bring a lunch.
June will also be the 3D Reveal! Bring your completed pieces to share with everyone!
Endy confirmed she will order the chanting tools for the batik workshop in the summer.
Show and Tell
Endy brought in an example of Zentangles on fabric, she used bee's wax as the resist and then will dye it. It is quite a complicated piece and she does suggest you start out simpler but still a lovely example of what you possibly could do.
Linda had a box she made from an old calendar and a beautiful vest knitted as a gift.
Judith has finished her Heron wall hanging using the strip technique on the background.
Cath made a belt pack and used the clock cases that Jeanette donated last year. She filled hers with a poppy being visited by a bee.
Shirley showed us a batik experiment. First dyed with lovely bright colours and then covered in paraffin wax, crackled and over-dyed with black. She was hoping for brighter colours but the end result is lovely.
Bev found a really nice table cloth in the thrift store and showed it to us as an example of batik. This one is from South Africa. You can really see the crackle effect you can get with batik.
Brigitte has done her Buttonhole stitch for her scroll.
Christine also played with the Buttonhole stitch to great effect.
Exploring Dimensional Quilt Art
Elisabeth talked to us about making pyramids, both 3 and 4 sided. Finishing the seams on the sewing machine is always difficult so she opted to have exterior seems as they were easier to sew.

Embroidery stitch
Cathy brought us the Bullion stitch. And shared straw needles to help make the stitch. The needles are the same size the whole length so make it easier to pull it through the wrapped thread. On a regular needle the eye section is wider.
