November

 Hello all!

Linda and Elisabeth will be taking part in Susan Wilson's fibre art show in February in Armstrong.

A Christmas themed meeting was discussed and it was agreed that we would all bring our own lunch, someone would supply desert and coffee and tea would be provided. Shirley will bring a game.

There was a lot of discussion around the Guild and going back to meeting at the church.  Sandie is going to get in touch with Joan and emphasize that we want to continue to be part of the Guild and that it is Covid that is preventing us from attending meetings and returning to meet at the church.  It was decided that we will go back to meeting at the church from January to March and then return to Brigitte's where we feel we can be more creative.

It was also decided that in order for the Guild to have confidence in us staying with them we would look to do a display of our accordion books, plus a few other pieces to show the variety of creativity we work on. We would contact the workshop committee in order to set up a suitable date.

Show and tell had many pieces giving examples of overdyeing, our topic from last month.

Brigitte and Elisabeth brought lots of samples of the soy wax resist pieces that had made at the Sorrento workshop they attended recently.

We then discussed ways of putting marks on our pieces of cloth.

These included:

Resists - soy, wax, glue, and flour paste.

String printing

Veg/Fruit printing

Rubbings

Paint Stix

Monoprinting

Transfer paints

Photo transfer images

Painting with wax pastels and wax crayons

Snow

Lithography (need oil based etching inks for this)

Show and tell had a few more beauties

Most of us finished the Christmas pins or had a bit of glueing to do later.  Brigitte brought along a stamp making activity that involved a 4" square of foam core and a pieces of sticky back craft foam.  We didn't get to this activity but Brigitte challenged us to complete a homemade stamp for homework.
